| The Brooklyn Campus
of Long Island University is located in Downtown Brooklyn, minutes
from major museums and galleries in New York City.
The Visual Arts majors enjoy small classes with
personal guidance from the art faculty who are professional artists,
art historians and art therapists. We offer internships in
museums and galleries. In addition, classes in glass can be
taken at nearby Urban Glass (www.urbanglass.org).
Our sky lighted studios are atop the Humanities
building, enjoying panoramic views of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Two large terraces are used for studio space in good weather.
Courses are offered in Drawing, Painting, Ceramics,
Sculpture, Printmaking (traditional and digital), Calligraphy, Glass,
Artist Books, Color Theory, Art Therapy, Art History, Art Education
and Photography.

The University maintains three galleries and an
annual outdoor sculpture exhibition.
Art Activity Awards are given to many full-time
students who show need and have a 2.5 GPA. Most activity award recipients
assist in the exhibition program, installing art and helping at
receptions.
Each art student is assigned a faculty mentor for
guidance through the program. Group critiques occur each spring
so that the faculty becomes acquainted with all art majors.
Visual Arts majors have had internships are available
at the Brooklyn Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and other
galleries and arts organizations.
